Violence for the sake of violence is not the same as violence to stop violence. Everyone knows killing an abusive parent is morally grey whereas killing an innocent child is absolutely wrong.
I recently got a comment removed on the Fed because a mod misunderstood my comment. They thought that someone who maliciously harms the innocent is themselves innocent, therefore invalidating my ideal. My bet is they didn’t know what malice means, or they genuinely think that hurting people with no provocation doesn’t make you a bad person.
I looked up the history of UK Parliament a while ago. Since conception there have only ever been two parties in charge: Conservative (used to be called Liberal) and Labour. Before merges and changes the main groups were called Whigs and Tories, both of which primarily became Conservative. Modern Liberals brought back the original Liberal Party, while Liberal Democrats were formed by part of Labour and part of the modern Liberals. They are pretty much identical in terms of actual change.
The only show of promise is that the Green Party have secured a massive increase in power, and there might actually be a chance of a difference in the next decade.
I got ecchi dolls (China knockoff, cheaper but decent) from a site called OtakuCrate once, they’ve emailed me to confirm that the R18 loot is back under new US regulations, which means future orders just require your legal identification. I live in Europe, so there’s no damn way I’m conforming to any privacy-invasive law, and I’m also not stupid.
Anything on Android 11 and below, at least, before the regulations were put in effect to take the feature from newer releases
Reminds me of just a few months ago when they sold the Samsung Galaxy S20-something using all the features that come with either Google Gemini 1.5-2.0 or Android 15. All features that my phone has. Nothing unique but the homegrown app store nobody likes
Indeed I did, I removed my speculative comments…
I put my chips (£100) on Emby.
I haven’t regretted my purchase. I can’t sell anyone on much either, because Emby does all the same as other services, except they’ve kept adding features while Plex kept doing the Google thing and taking them away. CPU transcoding is free I believe, as is remote streaming up to 10 devices for each user… Idk I paid pretty early on, but lifetime license is where it’s at. Subscriptions just open your asshole for greedy CEOs to fuck you. Best to keep subscriptions voluntary, like donating on Github or Patreon
Definitely not the only ones - while almost every Android can be flashed with a different ROM, very few can be relocked, which is ‘needed’ (workarounds possible) because some banking apps need it in order to run - but definitely some of the best third party ROMs are specifically for Pixel. Ironic, the best phone to deGoogle is a Google phone, thanks to GrapheneOS or CalyxOS devs.
If not using a Google phone, the best ROM may well still be LineageOS.
I use Bitwarden, which I’m fairly sure is the same product. Perhaps the issue lies with the app you’re using to login rather than the manager? For example, Bitwarden works well on at least Chrome and Brave, but rarely on Ecosia.
They’re conglomerate assholes. They have been damaging the environment, society and consumer base for decades now. Best to cut as many ties to corps as possible.
No, I found conduwuit to be my favourite server by far 😭
This poor person. It’s because of her and her values on the websites and docs that I chose conduwuit for my Matrix server, as well as the reason I found and joined the blahaj Lemmy instance…
An old meme once said:
The leadership (is supposed to) represent the people, the people do not represent the leadership. Israelis do not represent the Israeli government. Employees of a Meta subsidiary do not represent Meta, Facebook, or Zuckerberg. Don’t attack McDonald’s employees because the burger is more expensive, YouTube employees because the content preys on children or residents/soldiers of a country because the government decides to mobilise its army against another community. Employees are just victims of capitalism, just working there because they must, irrespective of politics.
I did, but completely forgot! I haven’t used a local library in years >.<
That’s pretty much what I just recommended aha, 12th gen or higher, or a GPU. Doesn’t have to be a large one either - my GTX 970 could handle Emby transcoding as well as blaze through speech recognition for a local voice assistant
IIRC the free version of Emby doesn’t throttle in any way, you can still have up to 10 concurrent active devices and the only thing you miss out on really is OpenSubtitles. But I’ve recently upped my game with Sonarr and it’s a dream. One day I’ll put my movies into Radarr.
You need any kind of mobo/CPU combo, I’ve heard 12th Gen Intel onwards are as capable of transcoding on the fly as an older GPU so you wouldn’t need both, but if you go older I recommend a GPU as well, just because it gives more flexibility with being able to use hardcoded subtitles without locking up the CPU, and streaming a lower bitrate version of the video if your internet is shit, instead of - again - locking up
For easy certificate management I use NginX Proxy Manager, for media I use Emby and for a domain I use Cloudflare but you can absolutely serve your server with DuckDNS or another DDNS service for free.
I paid about £200 to build my server, with a £30 CPU (Intel i6 3100), free motherboard, £50 PSU and £110 SFF case (rough costs), and holy fuck it’s so much cheaper than any subscription. Electricity is about £3-£5 a year and other costs are optional. I also sourced a GTX 970 for £90 that was more than up to the task of transcoding, but again, if you get a 12th gen you won’t need it.
I just remembered the HDD I started with was a spare (10TB Seagate Barracuda Pro, but I shucked (like shucking for pearls) an external HDD to get it, as I heard that you can get lucky and get a good drive for cheaper than it would cost to buy it. Said eHDD was about £250.
I installed Windows 11 with an unsupported CPU, kinda funny how it just worked despite all their screeching that it wouldn’t work and updating not working, but installing with installation media was flawless.
It’s a real bitch, automatically logging me into my partner’s account for the whole system and overriding my local user settings when I open MS Office apps Excel or Word (but that’s just Windows), and it cries about my lack of TPM on those apps and the Start menu when it does log in and cries about me not being logged into a MS account otherwise, but you know what? Everything still actually operates.
